A dog scale needs to match the animal, task, and setting, yet many platforms are designed for packages, adults, or very small pets instead. The right choice gives you enough capacity, a comfortable surface, and measurements you can actually use, whether you track a growing puppy, weigh a large dog, handle parcels, or monitor body weight at home.

A Deeper Look At The Lineup
The Wyze Scale Ultra turns a bathroom floor into a shared tracking station, with a customizable 4.3-inch display that keeps your key readings visible. That screen should be especially useful for a busy household, since you can check weight, body fat, and other selected figures without opening the app.
It also records 13 body metrics, including BMI, or body mass index, muscle mass, and heart rate. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth syncing add convenience, while Baby, Pet, and Luggage modes make this broader than a typical body scale, though a dedicated pet platform remains the more natural choice for repeated dog weigh-ins.
What It Does Well
- The large display reduces dependence on a phone.
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth syncing support regular progress tracking.
- Pet mode gives dog owners a practical weighing option.
- Automatic recognition accommodates up to eight users.
- Connections to major fitness platforms centralize your records.
Points To Keep In Mind
- Body composition readings are limited to users aged 10 through 100.
- Its broad feature set may exceed the needs of a single-user bathroom.
Who It Suits Best
You benefit most from this scale when multiple people want body tracking or a family also needs occasional pet and luggage weights.
A Better Fit Elsewhere
Choose the Bonvoisin Pet Scale instead when a medium dog needs a dedicated platform with finer 0.02 lb increments.
The Yoncon Folding Digital Industrial Platform Scale moves away from bathroom tracking and into a working commercial setting. Its platform folds at a 90-degree angle, changing from a 32.3-inch-high structure into a package roughly 19.7 by 15.8 by 7 inches for easier storage.
Capacity extends to 662 pounds, so it can accommodate a large dog as well as substantial parcels. A carbon steel body and stainless steel head support its industrial purpose, while price computing makes it more useful at a shipping counter than at a kitchen scale.
Features That Help
- The 0.1 lb increments suit parcels and large pets.
- Folding construction helps you reclaim storage space.
- Price computing streamlines multi-item shipments.
- The 662 lb capacity covers demanding workloads.
Practical Considerations
- The open platform remains much taller than a bathroom scale.
- Shipping controls add little to routine pet weighing.
- The power adapter requires access to a compatible outlet.
Feature Snapshot
Made For
Couriers, warehouse staff, and large-dog households that prioritize capacity and compact storage receive the most benefit.
Consider Something Else When
The Bonvoisin Pet Scale suits routine medium-dog sessions better because it offers a purpose-built rubber mat and finer pet-scale increments.
Where the Yoncon handles industrial loads, the Bonvoisin Pet Scale focuses directly on medium dogs. Its 27.1 by 12.9-inch platform sits beneath a rubber mat that gives paws more grip, making repeated weigh-ins feel less like balancing on a hard surface.
The scale supports up to 220 pounds and offers 0.02 lb increments, a useful level of detail for tracking growth or changes in a smaller dog. Tare subtracts the mat’s weight, while Hold locks the reading so you can move the dog before recording the number.
Benefits That Matter
- Fine increments support close weight tracking.
- The rubber mat improves stability for paws.
- Tare and Hold simplify readings around accessories.
- Three unit choices suit different record-keeping habits.
Small Caveats
- The 220 lb limit excludes larger adult dogs.
- Kilograms are the default unit, so the display needs adjustment for pounds.
Quick Facts
Right Fit For
You get the most practical setup for medium dogs, especially when you record weight frequently and want a dedicated non-slip surface.
Another Choice May Suit
The YAUYIK Digital Pet Scale is the better fit for puppies or small animals that stay well below the Bonvoisin 220 lb capacity.
The Etekcity Digital Scale returns the focus to body weight after three pet and shipping choices. Its 0.05 lb increments provide fine-grained readings for adult weight tracking, with enough resolution to reveal gradual changes without adding the pet-oriented controls found elsewhere in the lineup.
For a straightforward bathroom routine, that simplicity may be exactly what you want. You step onto the platform, read the digital result, and move on, without navigating family profiles or choosing among pet-oriented operating modes.
What Earns Its Place
- The 0.05 lb increments are detailed for adult body tracking.
- The step-on format suits a simple daily routine.
Trade Offs
- The body-weight format offers little advantage for dogs.
- Its 0.05 lb increment is coarser than the Bonvoisin pet scale’s 0.02 lb reading.
Best Suited To
Adults who want dependable numeric body-weight readings without connected features benefit from this direct approach.
Look Elsewhere When
The Wyze Scale Ultra Smart Scale makes more sense when you want app syncing, body-composition metrics, and dedicated pet mode in one household scale.
The KUAIVO Shipping Scale offers a different industrial profile from the folding Yoncon. It handles up to 660 pounds, begins at 0.06 pounds, and lists a 0.35 oz precision figure, making it a plausible option for parcels or a large dog where fine measurements matter.
A high-contrast LCD with blue backlighting supports reading the result in varied working conditions, while four-unit conversion broadens its use beyond a single measurement system. The included battery and charging cable also remove the need to treat this as a permanently tethered tool.
A Strong Showing
- The 660 lb capacity handles substantial loads.
- A 0.06 lb minimum expands the useful range.
- The backlit display supports clear parcel readings.
- Four unit choices simplify different shipping tasks.
Some Limits To Know
- Price computing is a stronger fit on the Yoncon model.
- The 0.06 lb minimum is unsuitable for very light objects.
Technical Highlights
Who Will Love This
Small-business shipping teams and large-dog households that want a high-capacity platform without a folding design will appreciate this setup.
Swap It Out When
Choose the Yoncon Folding Digital Industrial Platform Scale when price computing and reduced storage space matter more than its 0.35 oz precision figure.
The YAUYIK Digital Pet Scale specializes in animals that remain below the Bonvoisin platform’s 220 lb ceiling. Its range extends from 30 grams to 40 kilograms, or 88 pounds, with 5-gram precision that is useful for young puppies and very small pets.
An all-in-one body avoids assembly, so you can set the scale down and begin weighing without assembling separate parts. The non-slip mat helps paws remain steady, although the lower capacity means this is a small-animal setup rather than a general-purpose dog scale.
Everyday Wins
- Fine 5 g increments suit small weight changes.
- The 88 lb limit fits puppies and small animals.
- No assembly simplifies the first setup.
- The non-slip mat supports steadier paw placement.
Factors To Consider
- Medium and large dogs exceed the 88 lb capacity.
- The precision may be finer than an adult dog’s records require.
The Details
The Right Fit
You get the most useful setup for puppies, small breeds, and other animals that comfortably fit within 88 pounds.
Where A Sibling Pick Shines
The Bonvoisin Pet Scale serves medium dogs better because it raises the limit to 220 pounds while retaining a rubber mat and 0.02 lb increments.
Matching Scale Capabilities To The Job
Capacity And Platform
Start with the animal’s realistic adult weight, then leave room above it. The Bonvoisin reaches 220 lb for medium dogs, while the YAUYIK stops at 88 lb and suits puppies or small animals. For a very large dog, the Yoncon and KUAIVO platforms offer capacities up to roughly 660 lb, although their shipping-oriented controls add unnecessary complexity for ordinary pet weigh-ins.
Resolution And Units
Resolution describes the size of the increments between readings. The Bonvoisin offers 0.02 lb increments, the Etekcity uses 0.05 lb, and the YAUYIK provides 5 g precision. You also need to check the units: the Bonvoisin supports kilograms, pounds, and stone-pound combinations, while the KUAIVO offers four conversion options.
Workflow And Connectivity
A scale can work well as a standalone tool, but connectivity changes the routine. The Wyze Scale Ultra syncs through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, recognizes multiple users, and adds pet, baby, and luggage modes. Dedicated pet scales provide better surfaces and useful controls, while shipping models add price computing for parcel counters.
Common Scale Traps
Common Shopping Slip Ups
A large capacity does not automatically make a scale suitable for a dog. A platform may lack a comfortable surface, and a human body scale may offer no pet-focused features. Check the animal’s weight, platform format, units, and recording functions before choosing.
What The Higher Tier Buys
Added capability often appears through larger displays, connected profiles, finer measurement increments, or heavier construction. Those additions make sense for multi-user tracking, professional pet care, or busy shipping work. For one small puppy or occasional home weigh-in, a simpler platform may cover the need without extra complexity.

Final Verdict
For a medium dog, the Bonvoisin Pet Scale offers the most focused balance of capacity, grip, and measurement detail. Choose the YAUYIK for small pets, the Wyze for shared body and pet tracking, or a heavy-duty platform when your dog approaches the larger capacities. Match the tool to the animal and routine, and you reduce the chance of choosing a scale that looks capable but handles daily use awkwardly.
